Lifting and Mental Health

james visit 12Over the years I have worked with many lifters facing their own set of challenges. Lifters with physical difficulties, as well as mental health issues, have found lifting has helped them find some headspace and increased their self-worth. The achievement of lifting a heavy weight with competence and skill can bring anyone a sense of elation. Lifting a kettlebell brings an opportunity to begin a new sport, join a club or train independently, and compete on a national or international stage.

I have also coached those wanting to become coaches in their own right, and seen them through the learning process, when learning is in itself an obstacle. I have worked with Disability Sport clubs, as well as alternative education settings, to make this happen.
