So, this week I have been asking a few kettlebell lifters, whose opinions I respect, what they think of the undersquat (or dip) in the Kettlebell Snatch. It is used to make it possible to knock out more reps when reaching fatigue. I guess my issue with that is that I want Girevoy Sport to be about endurance and technique, not a series of shortcuts. I want to be an athlete, not a schemer.
Here’s coach Denis Kanygin on the dip.

Here’s what I think:
1. I want to perform a good set, with sound technique
2. I want it to feel like work, and to have the satisfaction of (hopefully) a good set done to the best of my ability
3. I want the distinction between Jerk and Snatch preserved, not blurred.
That’s my viewpoint. Would love to hear yours. MK
